  • I was very excited to receive my first book from "Blogging for Books”. I received "The Governess of Highland" by Carrie Turnansky. I had never read anything from this author so I was excited to start on it.                                                                                                                                                                                                          The book takes place in England in 1911. I knew right away I would enjoy this book because of the setting and time period.  When I first began the book I felt like it had a Jane Eyre kind of feel to it. Since it being centered around the life of a governess, I thinks that’s why I got that feeling. I have read my share of books centered on life of a governess. I was just hoping this one would be different.  As the book progressed It kept reminding me of Downton Abbey. I thinking it’s because it actually told the story of the servants of the house. Also the time period is similar to Downton Abbey.                                                   Overall it was a very enjoyable book to read, although it was predictable.  Sometimes I do enjoy predictable books but other times I do. But this one didn’t really bother me as much. If you like Jane Eyre or Downton Abbey I think you will enjoy this book. I did really like it and rate it 3 out of 4 stars.
